Pilots Joe Barnes Down and Out for Year

Whether he wants it or not, Joe Barnes of the Pensacola Pilots will be getting some R & R -- rest and relaxation. The starting pitcher was hurt in today's Pilots-Kingfish game while throwing a pitch. Team officials announced after the game that Barnes had suffered a torn rotator cuff and would be out of action for 7-8 months.

So far this season, Barnes has logged a 3-1 record with a 4.23 ERA. He has started 0 games, hurled 27.2 innings and registered 28 strikeouts and 12 walks.
