5-Hit Barrage by Heath
Sunday, August 8th, 2027
After a 5-hit effort to lead Bemidji's 10-2 victory over the Wisconsin Rapids Rangers, center fielder Leon Heath told BNN beat writers it had been "a special day."
"It really doesn't matter whether it's sandlot ball, high school or college, two hits in a game is pretty nice," he said. "Three or four is better, but five or more is out of sight. And to do that at the Midwest League-level is really something special."
The 23-year-old player earned his accolades today at Barnett Field with a spectacular 5-for-6 game against the Rangers.
"His swing is getting there," said Benders skipper Vincent Williams, who spoke glowingly of Heath after the game. "We want him to be quick with his swing, short and compact. We want him to be patient and go the other way when he can. Leon did that to perfection today."
Leon Heath singled in the 1st, hit a solo-shot off Wilson Ramos in the 2nd, singled in the 3rd, singled in the 5th, grounded out in the 6th and singled in the 8th.
This year Heath has 1 home run and a .216 batting average.
