Hernández Socks it to Wranglers, Cracks 5 Hits
Tuesday, July 20th, 2027
After his 5-hit effort at The Guido Ghetto was tarnished by Gainesville's 14-6 loss to the Wichita Wranglers, center fielder Juan Hernández told BNN beat writers it was "a missed opportunity for a special day."
"It really doesn't matter whether it's sandlot ball, high school or college, two hits in a game is pretty nice," he said. "I would have been happy to stop there if it meant we got a win."
He didn't get the win, but the 21-year-old had a spectacular 5-for-5 game against the Wranglers.
"His swing is getting there," said Guidos skipper Brandon Kimball after the game. "We want him to be quick with his swing, short and compact. We want him to be patient and go the other way when he can. Juan did that to perfection today and we wasted it."
Juan Hernández singled in the 1st, doubled in the 3rd, singled in the 5th, singled in the 7th and singled in the 9th.
