Diablos Held Hitless by Drake
Thursday, July 1st, 2027
The Wichita Wranglers were just hoping for a solid outing from John Drake. Instead, they got something special.
The 22-year-old hurler tossed a no-hitter against the Santa Fe Diablos, helping the Wranglers take the 5-0 win.
"I felt pretty good throughout the game," he said after his spectacular outing for the Wranglers. "As I was going into the ninth inning, I wasn't nervous. I knew I had a chance to do something special."
Drake's repertoire has a change up, slider, fastball, and, and he used it all to full advantage, keeping the Santa Fe hitters off balance all game long. The Wichita hurler fanned 10 and walked 3 in his history-making performance.
"His change up looked about the size of a watermelon seed and it hissed at you as it passed," Santa Fe manager Ernesto Rivera joked after the game.
This season Drake has compiled a 5-3 record with a 3.62 ERA in 15 starts.
