Hits Galore: Smith Drills 5 Hits
Sunday, October 3rd, 2027
Chicago Machine first baseman Bob Smith had a day to remember at Old Comiskey Park today, ripping apart the St. Louis Browns and sparking the Machine to a 11-9 victory.
Smith wrote his name in the record books with a 5-hit barrage, finishing his special day 5-for-5.
"I'm usually a first ball hitter," Smith told BNN reporters in the postgame press conference. "I think pitchers think batters are going to let the first one go by. I never do. I've always found that it's better to pull the trigger early in the count. Pitchers get real nasty when they get ahead of you, so I try to avoid it."
Bob Smith hit an RBI double in the 1st, hit an RBI single in the 2nd, singled in the 4th, singled in the 5th and hit an RBI single in the 7th.
This year Smith has collected a .252 batting average to date with 29 hits in 115 at-bats, 6 RBIs, 1 home run and scored 10 times. He has played in 29 games.
