Hill Sensational, 5-for-5
Friday, September 24th, 2027
5 hits in a game has always been a big milestone in baseball -- 5 hits in a game gets a player's name in the record book, win or lose. Robin Hill got his name recorded today, but the Greenville 84s picked up the win at Gateway Stadium, topping the St. Louis Browns, 10-6.
"He bushwhacked us," said winning manager Shihi Kamida. "We were lucky to come out ahead."
Hill, who is tied for 8th in the CL in stolen bases with 28, spoke to reporters in the clubhouse following the game, saying his nerves only set in once he was on the cusp of the milestone.
"I got too much adrenaline going when I realized that this could be a once-in-a-lifetime day," the center fielder said. "I think the coaches could tell I was going to be ready to swing at anything close. That's why my third base coach told me to calm down and wait for a good pitch. That got me back on track."
Robin Hill hit an RBI single in the 1st, singled in the 3rd, singled in the 5th, hit a two-run home run off Tomás González in the 7th and singled in the 9th.
Hill is currently batting .328 with 7 home runs, 67 RBIs and 78 runs scored. He has 164 hits in 500 at-bats.
