Nassau Wastes Great Game by Thompson
|
Doug Thompson did all he could to help his team win. In the end, though, it wasn't enough to keep the Nassau Rockets from losing, 8-7, to the New Orleans Looters at Nassau Grounds. Thompson went 4 for 5 with a home run and 3 singles. He scored 2 runs and drove in 3. The winner was Robbie Daniel in relief. His record improves to 1-1. Nolan Baker took the loss. The first-place Looters have won 6 straight games.
New Orleans pinch hitter Taylor Smith changed the game in the top of the eighth when he belted a 3-run home run off Nolan Baker. His 10th home run of the season gave New Orleans a 8-6 lead.
"There's a lot of good karma around our club," said winning manager Ramón Aragón.
