Browns Walk Off with 6-5 Win
|
St. Louis beat Vista at Gateway Stadium, escaping with a 6-5 win. The win in large part was due to shortstop Tommy Evans, who earned player of the game honors. He went 3-5 with a home run and 2 singles, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once. Brent Miller picked up the win in relief, improving his record to 2-1. David Simpson was tagged with the loss. The second-place Browns lifted their record to 36-28.
The game was decided with no one out in the bottom of the ninth. With St. Louis trailing 5-4, Evans hit a cutter from David Simpson for a 2-run home run. Just like that, the Browns had a walk-off win.
"This place was rockin'," Evans said.
