Tropics Suffer 2-1 Setback
|
The Niagara Falls Frenzy went home winners at Edmund Fitzgerald Field, thanks in large part to starter Nathan Thornton. Thornton silenced the Maui Tropics, enabling Niagara Falls to grab the 2-1 win. Esteban Juárez notched his 14th save in 17 chances. Their 32-30 record puts the Frenzy third in the National League Eastern Division.
Tied up with the Tropics in the bottom of the fifth inning, the Frenzy got a boost from designated hitter Jorge Cora. With the bases empty, Cora saw a full count fastball from Steve Floyd and hit a solo home run to break the stalemate and put Niagara Falls on top, 2-1.
"If you ever get this game figured out," said Maui manager Patrick Patterson, "let me know."
