Pitcher Manuel Romero was sensational for the Birmingham Steeldogs in his team's 2-1 triumph over the Niagara Falls Frenzy. Romero received player of the game honors, while picking up the win. Romero, the winner, moves to 3-3. He threw 7 innings of 4-hit ball, while fanning 4 and giving up 2 walks. Birmingham now sits in 4th place in the National League Southern Division at 16-40.

In the top of the fourth inning, Sixto Vélez muscled up and hit a 2-run home run. It put Birmingham ahead, 2-0. For the game, Vélez was 1-4 with a home run, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once.

"Runs were at a premium," said Birmingham manager Gilberto Cortéz.
