Thompson Powers Rockets to 6-5 Win
|
The Nassau Rockets and Houston Marshals obliged those fans who came to Nassau Grounds hoping for an exciting game.
In a tight contest at Nassau Grounds, the Nassau Rockets edged the Houston Marshals by the score of 6-5. Nassau designated hitter Doug Thompson, who blasted 1 home run, was named the player of the game. Nassau reliever Ju-choer Yi picked up the win, upping his record to 1-3. Vinícius Itaquy shouldered the loss. Juan Franco recorded his 6th save for Nassau.
Thompson provided the big break for the Rockets in the bottom of the fifth inning. With a runner on 2nd, he hit a 2-run home run, helping Nassau to get the win.
"Good win for us," said Thompson. "We'll lace up our cleats and go after the next one."
Nassau is now 25-28, while Houston is 29-26.
