Beavers Edge Past Browns, 1-0
|
In a well-pitched game between the Baffin Island Beavers and the St. Louis Browns, pitcher Jesse Little was superb. The Baffin Island right-hander was named the player of the game in Baffin Island's 1-0 win. Baffin Island reliever Cecil Bonekamp picked up the win, upping his record to 2-3. Kitahachi Okada took the loss. The Beavers own a robust 34-17 mark.
The clutch at-bat came in the bottom of the 17th inning, when Baffin Island first baseman Lorenzo Villa, facing Kitahachi Okada, had a run-scoring double. It gave the Beavers the 1-0 win.
"To not win that game stings a little bit," said St. Louis manager Jeff Porter.
