Looters Come Back Late to Top Bombers
|
Getting a good performance from third baseman Rich Ruffin, the New Orleans Looters defeated the Madison Bombers, 7-4. Ruffin was 2 for 4 with a home run. He scored 2 runs and drove in 4 for the Looters. Roy March earned the win to go to 1-0. He allowed 4 earned runs on 7 hits, with 3 walks and 3 strikeouts. Juan Méndez recorded the save for New Orleans, his 3rd of the season.
Ruffin had a game-changing home run in the top of the eighth. On a 1-0 knuckleball from Arturo Leal, he banged a 3-run home run to left, giving the Looters a 7-4 lead. It was the 1st home run of the year for Ruffin.
"I was able to barrel up some pitches," said Ruffin.
The Looters, now 4-1, have stormed out of the gates.
