Both teams had their chances, but the Madison Bombers eventually prevailed at Red Box Field.
Madison beat New York at Red Box Field, eking out a 5-4 win. The win was due in large part to pitcher Bennie Jones, who earned player of the game honors. Madison reliever Ramiro Rivera picked up the win, upping his record to 2-0. James Jones absorbed the loss. Alonso Gallardo closed it out for his 7th save.
John Denton broke a 4-4 tie in the bottom of the eighth with a run-scoring ground out. It put the Bombers in front, 5-4. For the game, Denton drove in one run.
Denton said afterward that "winning is what it's all about."
Today's win puts Madison at 12-34, while New York falls to 18-28.
