River Sharks Get 4-3 Win Versus Chicago
|
Fans who gathered at Old Comiskey Park saw a good contest between the Austin River Sharks and Chicago Machine.
The River Sharks had to overcome a good performance from Chicago pitcher Rex Welch to claim a 4-3 win at Old Comiskey Park. Welch went 5.1 innings and allowed 2 earned runs. Austin has a 3-game win streak, while Chicago has lost 4 in a row.
Had Carlos Guzmán not delivered a key base hit in the top of the seventh, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and a runner on 2nd, Guzmán hit a run-scoring single. That made the score 4-3, in favor of the River Sharks.
"I'm proud of the way we took care of business and got the 'W' today," Guzmán told the Austin Bulletin. "Whatever it takes."
