Steeldogs Pick Up 3-1 Win
|
In a tight game between the Birmingham Steeldogs and the San Francisco Bandits, pitcher Francisco Ríos was terrific on the mound. The Birmingham right-hander was named the player of the game in Birmingham's 3-1 win. The winning pitcher was Ríos, now 3-3. He tossed 5.2 innings of 5-hit ball, while walking 0 and fanning 6. Mitch Brown earned his 4th save in 5 tries.
Eric Johnson came through for Birmingham in the top of the fifth. With one out, Johnson victimized Pancho Guerrero with a solo home run. It was his 2nd home run of the season and put Birmingham on top, 2-1.
"Francisco was throwing free and easy," said Birmingham manager Gilberto Cortéz.
San Francisco, at 18-26, has lost 4 straight.
