Steeldogs Knock Off Bandits at Bay View Park

Benefiting from an exceptional performance from Ashley Pickhills, the Birmingham Steeldogs defeated the San Francisco Bandits, 4-2. Pickhills went 3-4 with a home run and 2 doubles. He scored 2 runs and drove in 2 for the Steeldogs. Barton Johnson was the winning pitcher. Over 6 innings, he allowed 2 runs on 7 hits, with 2 walks and 8 strikeouts. The Steeldogs are now 9-33, while the Bandits fall to 18-25.
Chris Miller contributed a productive at-bat in the top of the seventh. With the bases loaded, he hit a sacrifice fly. It was one at-bat that helped Birmingham get the win.
"This level of focus will win us a lot of ballgames," Miller said after the game.
