River Sharks Lose Again, 5-4, to Tropics
|
The Austin River Sharks got a superb performance from pitcher José Pérez. Still, it wasn't enough to beat Maui. The Tropics won the game, 5-4. In spite of the loss, Pérez was named the player of the game. He threw 6 innings allowing 3 runs. Maui reliever Yong-taek Yi got the win, raising his record to 3-1. Tatsuzo Harada was tagged with the loss. The last-place River Sharks have lost 7 straight games.
Maui took a 5-4 lead in the bottom of the seventh inning, when José Rodríguez hit a clutch 2-run home run to bring Tropics fans to their feet.
"Everyone's trying too hard," said losing manager Dave Anderson. "If we learn to relax, we'll be fine."
