The Niagara Falls Frenzy did just enough to secure a 6-5 victory over the Irvine Gang Green at Edmund Fitzgerald Field. Nobody did more than pitcher George Nelson, who captured player of the game honors. The loss drops Irvine to 1-3.
Dave MacThomas helped out the Niagara Falls cause in the bottom of the fifth inning with a run-scoring sacrifice fly. For the game, the third baseman was 3-3 with 3 singles, while scoring 2 times.
"We took advantage of our opportunities," Nelson told the Niagara Falls Times. "It's as simple as that."
