Rucker Blisters New Orleans
|
Anthony Rucker knows as well as anyone that in baseball, the biggest contracts go to the biggest hitters. At The Bayou at Heineken Field today, he made his case to be considered among that group.
The 26-year-old second baseman hammered 5 hits in 8 chances, though the remarkable effort came even as his St. Louis Browns fell, 5-4, to the New Orleans Looters.
"We made some bad pitches and he took advantage of it," Looters manager Ramón Aragón told BNN sportswriters after the game. "Thankfully, we were able to do enough elsewhere that Rucker wasn't the difference."
Anthony Rucker flied out in the 2nd, singled in the 4th, singled in the 6th, singled in the 8th, singled in the 9th, grounded out in the 11th, grounded out in the 13th and singled in the 16th.\n
This season Rucker is hitting at a .281 pace with 1 home run, 7 RBIs and has scored 14 times.
