Maui overcame a superlative game from José Morán to beat Plymouth, 3-2. The Plymouth pitcher took player of the game honors in a losing cause. He threw 7 innings of 3-hit ball. Ronald Cotton was the winner. Over 8 innings, he allowed 2 runs on 7 hits, with 2 walks and 2 strikeouts. Pedro Magana earned his 9th save in 9 tries.

Tied up with the Rocks in the bottom of the fifth inning, the Tropics got a boost from center fielder Mario Olivares. With the bases loaded, Olivares saw a full count fastball from José Morán and hit a 2-run single to break the stalemate and put Maui on top, 3-1.

"We put some tough at-bats on some tough pitches," said Maui manager Patrick Patterson.

The Tropics now own a record of 15-22.
