Menlo Maniacs third baseman Héctor Vázquez had a day to remember at Wrangler Field today, ripping apart the Red Deer Wranglers and sparking the Maniacs to a 13-5 victory.

Vázquez wrote his name in the record books with a 5-hit barrage, finishing his special day 5-for-6.

"I'm usually a first ball hitter," Vázquez told BNN reporters in the postgame press conference. "I think pitchers think batters are going to let the first one go by. I never do. I've always found that it's better to pull the trigger early in the count. Pitchers get real nasty when they get ahead of you, so I try to avoid it."

Héctor Vázquez hit an RBI single in the 1st, singled in the 3rd, hit a solo-shot off William Bryant in the 6th, grounded out in the 6th, singled in the 8th and hit an RBI double in the 9th.

Vázquez's current batting average stands at .309 and he has chalked up 5 home runs and 27 RBIs.
