Alomar Leads Machine to Win
Benefiting from an exceptional performance from José Alomar, the Chicago Machine defeated the Maui Tropics, 8-7. Alomar went 3 for 4 with a home run, a triple, and a walk. He scored 2 times and drove in 3 for the Machine. Zózimo Pascoal earned the win for Chicago. He lasted 5.2 innings, allowing 3 earned runs on 5 hits, while striking out 4. With the win, he raised his record to 3-3. Víctor Reyes recorded the save for Chicago, his 7th of the season.

Edward Bartlett had a big run-scoring single for the Machine in the bottom of the fourth inning. With Chicago leading 3-2 and the bases loaded, he got a fastball from Ronald Cotton and stroked the single to right. It was his 23rd hit of the season, and more importantly, it put the Machine ahead, 4-2.

"I like the grit of this ballclub," Bartlett said.

The Tropics, now 9-18, continue their sluggish start.
