Austin Topples Boston, 8-7
|
The Austin River Sharks knocked off the Boston Rebels, 8-7, at Fenway Park. Orlando Bruno, who captured player of the game honors, was a big reason Austin won. The second baseman was 4 for 4 with a double, 3 singles, and a walk, while scoring 3 runs. Austin reliever John Whitaker picked up the win, bumping his record to 2-0. Chad Field was collared with the loss. Getting the save was António Bueno, his 6th.
Carlos Guzmán did his part for the River Sharks, producing a 2-run single in the top of the first inning. For the game, the first baseman went 2 for 4 with 2 singles and a walk, while adding 2 RBI.
Guzmán told the Austin Bulletin: "Win or lose, I don't want to see our team outhustled."
Despite the win, Austin, now 7-17, is off to a terrible start.
