Nicks Batters Indiana for 5 Hits
|
After a 5-hit effort to lead Richmond's 25-4 victory over the Indiana Hounds, first baseman Sean Nicks told BNN beat writers it had been "a special day."
"It really doesn't matter whether it's sandlot ball, high school or college, two hits in a game is pretty nice," he said. "Three or four is better, but five or more is out of sight. And to do that at the International League-level is really something special."
The 25-year-old player earned his accolades today at Delorimier Stadium with a spectacular 5-for-5 game against the Hounds.
"His swing is getting there," said Flairs skipper Harry McCready, who spoke glowingly of Nicks after the game. "We want him to be quick with his swing, short and compact. We want him to be patient and go the other way when he can. Sean did that to perfection today."
Sean Nicks walked in the 1st, singled in the 3rd, hit an RBI single in the 3rd, hit a two-run home run off Rob Fields in the 4th, hit a two-run home run off Chan-seok O in the 6th, walked in the 7th and singled in the 8th.
This year Nicks is batting .350 with 22 home runs.
