Big Day by Aiton Sparks Royale with Cheese Win
|
The Kalamazoo Royale with Cheese grabbed a 8-1 win over the Maui Tropics at Hawthrone Grill. Kalamazoo second baseman Andy Aiton was 3-4 with 2 home runs. He drove in 4 runs and scored twice to earn player of the game honors. Lorenzo Sánchez picked up the win with 6 innings of work. He allowed no earned runs on 5 hits, while walking 2 and striking out 3. On the season, he is now 2-1. António Ojeda earned the save for Kalamazoo, his 2nd.
Aiton had a game-changing home run in the bottom of the sixth. On a first pitch fastball from Yong-taek Yi, he banged a solo home run to left-center, giving the Royale with Cheese a 2-1 lead. It was the 3rd home run of the year for Aiton.
"We did more than enough to get the win," said Aiton.
The loss drops Maui to 4-15.
