Burnett Bangs Out 5 Base Hits
|
There aren't many who could be pro ballplayers and there are even fewer who could put up 5 hits in a day.
Gerald Burnett is one of those rare few, as he went 5-for-6 against the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers at Pratt & Whitney Field today. The monster effort from the 32-year-old catcher helped the Cape Cod Clams take the win, 18-3.
"We made some bad pitches and he took advantage of it," said Timber Rattlers manager Joseph Evans. "That's the game, though. Don't make mistakes and you'll win ballgames. Make mistakes and, well, you saw what happened today."
Gerald Burnett singled in the 1st, hit an RBI single in the 2nd, hit a two-run single in the 3rd, grounded out in the 4th, hit a two-run single in the 5th and singled in the 7th.
Looking at his present stats, Burnett has compiled a .323 batting average in 8 games with a .364 on-base percentage, while hitting 1 home run and driving in 9 runs.
