Austin used a superb performance from starting pitcher Dave Huot to down the Chicago Machine, 5-1. Huot, the winner, moves to 3-7. He threw 6.1 innings of 3-hit ball, while fanning 4 and giving up 5 walks. Josh Graham was credited with the save. He has now successfully converted 16 of 19 save opportunities.
Juan Castro brought the hometown crowd to its feet with one out in the bottom of the first. That's when the former first round draft pick belted a 2-run home run. With the round-tripper, the River Sharks took the lead, 2-0.
"I'm proud of the boys for pulling through," said River Sharks manager Dave Anderson. "The wins don't come easy for this team, but everyone's got an extra jump in their step after a game like this."
Austin is now 47-103, Chicago 56-94.
