With right fielder Buck Jones leading the charge, the Irvine Gang Green defeated the San Francisco Bandits, 6-3, at Bay View Park. Jones, who is tied for 8th in the NL with a .433 on-base percentage, was 2-3 with 2 singles and 2 walks. He scored 2 runs. Germán Pérez picked up the win with 7 innings of work. He allowed 3 earned runs on 6 hits, while walking 1 and striking out 5. On the season, he is now 2-0. The Gang Green are off to an underwhelming start as they look to defend their championship, notching only their 6th win in 15 games.
Jorge Martínez, who is a eight-time All-Star, aided the Irvine cause with a run-scoring walk in the top of the sixth. For the game, the designated hitter drew 2 walks in 5 trips to the plate, while adding 2 RBI.
