The Seattle Pikes did just enough to sneak past the Austin River Sharks, 3-2, at Greendale Community Field. Seattle pitcher Marcos Benítez earned player of the game honors. In 8 innings, Benítez surrendered 7 hits, while striking out 2 and walking 3. He allowed 2 runs. The save went to Cristián Escobar, his 48th this season.
Wallace Greene had a productive at-bat for the Pikes with no one out in the top of the ninth. With the bases empty, the catcher hit a single. The at-bat was important in the Seattle win.
"We've got a great group of guys," Benítez said, "and we're having fun right now."
This loss makes it 6 in a row for Austin.
