Austin had no answer for Kansas City Kings hurler Jesús López, who overwhelmed River Sharks hitters as the Kings coasted to a 8-1 victory. With the win, Kansas City improves its record to 8-6.

Toshimichi Kono contributed to the Kansas City win. The 28-year old first baseman stroked a double in the bottom of the fourth. For the game, Kono went 2 for 5 with a double, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once.

"We'll keep our chins up and get ready for the next game," said losing manager Dave Anderson.
