The Maui Tropics beat the Niagara Falls Frenzy, 5-4, at Rainbow Stadium. The Tropics got a fine performance from third baseman Anacleto Morillo, who captured player of the game honors. He was 3-4 with a home run and a double, while scoring 2 runs. Steve Floyd got credit for the win, improving to 8-8. He allowed 4 runs on 6 hits in 6 innings. The Tropics now have a mark of 59-83.
Maui center fielder Mario Olivares helped the Tropics go up, 5-4, in the bottom of the fourth inning. With the game tied, Olivares hit a run-scoring single off Niagara Falls pitcher Luis López.
"We had the game right there for the taking," said Niagara Falls manager John Leach. "But we decided not to take it."
