The Springfield Stars got a strong performance from pitcher José López, who stymied the Kalamazoo offense en route to a 5-2 win at Hawthrone Grill. López picked up the win for Springfield, going 6 innings. He gave up 2 runs on 8 hits. He now sports a record of 11-3. José Valdéz nailed down his 28th save.
The Stars got a big at-bat from third baseman Jesús Tobías. For the game, Tobías went 1-4, while adding 2 RBI. In the top of the fourth, with runners on 2nd and 3rd, he stroked a 2-run single. His 72nd hit of the season gave Springfield a 3-1 lead.
"It takes a lot of things to win a ballgame," said Springfield manager . "It's usually not just one thing."
