Losing Streak Continues for Bandits with 3-1 Loss to Gang Green
|
Irvine got a strong outing from Mike Marrero as the Gang Green defeated the San Francisco Bandits, 3-1, at Bay View Park. Marrero went 7.2 innings to notch the win. He scattered 7 hits, walked 0, and struck out 5. His record improves to 7-5. Mike Fisher was credited with the save for Irvine, his 27th of the season.
The Gang Green beat the Bandits in part due to timely hitting. Case in point: the two-out single Víctor Quiñones produced in the top of the third. Batting against San Francisco pitcher Mabuchi Yoshida, Quiñones gave his team a 2-0 lead when he hit a 2-run single.
"This team is real focused right now," said Irvine manager Bobby Jones.
San Francisco is in the throes of a 10-game skid.
