Royale with Cheese Come Up Short at Houston
|
Miguel Angel Rodríguez pitched well enough to win, but it was not to be. The Kalamazoo Royale with Cheese, despite Rodríguez's fine outing, dropped a 2-1 decision to the Houston Marshals at Mythology Coliseum. The winner was Stan Aldridge, who threw 99 pitches over 6 innings. The left-hander was charged with 1 run on 7 hits. Alfonso Ramos earned the save, his 4th.
Doing his part for Houston was right fielder David Murray, who stroked a run-scoring single in the bottom of the fourth. For the game, Murray went 1 for 3.
"We were the better team today. Maybe that won't be the case next game, but we'll enjoy it for now," Murray told the Houston Times.
The Marshals now have a record of 67-54.
