All went well for José López of the Plymouth Rocks as he pitched his team to a 6-0 shutout victory over the Birmingham Steeldogs, limiting them to 3 hits. In the postgame interview, both managers had glowing things to say about López on the day.

"José's got a good selection of pitches he can throw at a guy," said Rocks manager Jaime Torres. "He changes speed, gives different looks to different hitters. When he's on his game, he's quite a handful."

In the contest, the Plymouth right-hander rang up 8 and surrendered no walks.

"He didn't give us any second chances," said Steeldogs manager Gilberto Cortéz. "It's a guessing game with him and today we were always guessing wrong."

López has made 23 starts so far this year and put up a 12-5 won-lost record with a 2.53 ERA. In 145.2 innings he has allowed 113 hits, walked 40 and struck out 145.
