The Maui Tropics got a magnificent performance from pitcher Kent Robinson, who stifled the Springfield offense en route to a 2-1 Tropics win at Kekambas Park. The win was John Burris's in relief. His record improves to 3-1. José Valdéz took the loss for Springfield. The save went to Ricardo Pérez, his 8th this season.

Luis Antonio Torres had the most critical at-bat for Maui. With two in the top of the tenth inning, Torres hit a first pitch sinker from José Valdéz for a run-scoring single. It put Maui in front, 2-1.

"The game of baseball will test you," said Patrick Patterson, the Maui skipper. "This one tested us."

The Tropics now have a record of 46-69 with the win over Springfield.
