The Nassau Rockets and starting pitcher Derek Simpson stifled the Boston offense en route to a comfortable 8-1 win at Nassau Grounds. Nassau goes to 54-61, Boston to 36-79.
The Rockets ran into trouble in the top of the fifth. The score was 1-0, Nassau, with no one out. Boston, with a runner on 1st, had Pedro Rodríguez at the plate. With a base hit, he could have changed the complexion of the game. Instead, he struck out and the Rockets went on to win.
