Kings C De La Cruz goes 3-for-4 in Win
|
The Kansas City Kings topped the Houston Marshals, 9-1, with youngster António De La Cruz playing a key role. De La Cruz was 3-4 with a home run and 2 singles, while scoring 2 runs and driving in 3 for the Kings in the win. Carlos Pacheco, the winner, improved to 8-8. He held the Marshals to 1 earned run on 4 hits over 8.2 innings, while striking out 5 and walking 4. At 61-48, Kansas City is in third place in the Continental League Central Division.
De La Cruz had an important at-bat with a runner on 1st in the top of the fourth, when he hit a 2-run home run. The Kings went on to win.
"We'll keep our chins up and get ready for the next game," said losing manager Tom Lucott.
