Sheens Prevail, 7-6, Over Niagara Falls
|
The St Charles Sheens did just enough to sneak past the Niagara Falls Frenzy, 7-6, at Crown Royal Stadium. St Charles catcher Juan Jose Rojas earned player of the game honors. St Charles reliever Ron Cummins picked up the win, upping his record to 4-2. Terry Fields absorbed the loss. St Charles is in last place in the Continental League Western Division with a record of 54-49.
St Charles grabbed the momentum in the bottom of the fifth, when Rojas, who is a four-time All-Star, hit a solo home run. His 8th home run of the season put the Sheens out in front, 7-6.
"I'm proud to wear a St Charles jersey," Rojas told the St Charles Observer. "We played a good game and came out with the win. What more can you ask for?"
