Henvy Stay Hot, Beat Bombers
|
2027 is shaping up to be a forgettable year for the Madison Bombers.
In a close game at Jersey West at Staples Field, the So Cal Henvy edged the Madison Bombers, 5-4. So Cal third baseman Lawrence Schroeder earned the nod as player of the game. He was 2 for 3 with a home run and a double. He scored 2 runs and drove in 4. Juan González, the winner, improved to 11-4. He held the Bombers to 4 earned runs on 6 hits over 5.1 innings, while striking out 8 and walking 0.
Schroeder contributed a big hit, a 2-run home run, for So Cal in the bottom of the second. With his team trailing 1-0, Schroeder took a splitter from Clint John and stroked the home run to right-center. His 10th home run of the season allowed the Henvy to leap in front, 2-1.
"I like seeing our guys get a return on what they've put in," said So Cal manager Jorge Rivera.
The Henvy have now won 6 straight.
