Rockets Fall Short, 5-4, at St. Louis
|
St. Louis right-hander Claudio Martínez made an effective start against the Nassau Rockets at Gateway Stadium, leading his team to a 5-4 win. Martínez picked up the win for St. Louis, going 6.2 innings. He gave up 4 runs on 6 hits. He now sports a record of 5-3. John Allan closed the game out for St. Louis, earning his 2nd save.
Early in the game, catcher Jorge Torres had a 3-run home run for St. Louis. It was his 17th home run of the season and put the Browns on top, 3-1.
In comments to the St. Louis Times, Torres admitted he's been told to improve his work habits. "But," he said, "I know when to take it to another gear."
The third-place Browns improved to 55-41.
