Sandoval hits 2 home runs as Boccabellas Squeeze Past Fresno
|
The bats were silent much of the day at Connie Mack Stadium. But Francisco Sandoval conjured up just enough offense to carry the Boccabellas past the Fresno Deplorables, 3-2. Sandoval was 2-2 with 2 home runs and a walk. He drove in 3 runs and scored twice. Osvaldo Cruz got the win, improving to 6-8. He held the Deplorables to 2 earned runs on 6 hits over 8 innings, while striking out 11 and walking 2. The second-place Boccabellas raised their record to 57-39.
Sandoval had a key at-bat for Pocatello early in the game. With a runner on 3rd, he hit a 2-run home run. It was his 23rd home run of the season and gave Pocatello an early 2-0 lead.
Sandoval told a Pocatello Daily reporter that he was "more than satisfied" with the win.
