Pikes Hammered by Newell, Drop Game 4 to Stars
|
The Springfield Stars knotted up the Divisional Round at Pikes' Point Stadium today, thanks in large part to first baseman Elliott Newell. Newell was 3-5 with a home run and 2 singles, while scoring 2 times and driving in 2 as he overpowered the Seattle Pikes, enabling Springfield to grab the 8-3 win and move into a 2-2 tie in the best-of-7 series.
Springfield designated hitter Norberto Taváres helped the Stars go up, 4-3, in the top of the fifth inning. With the game tied, Taváres hit a run-scoring single off Seattle pitcher Mike Graves.
"This was a good win for us," said Taváres. "It's one more step toward our ultimate goal."
Game 5 is scheduled for Sunday, October 17th, 2027 at Pikes' Point Stadium. The scheduled starters for the game are Dae-ho Kim for the Stars and Mike Graves for the Pikes.
