Looters Even With Henvy After Walk-Off Win
|
The New Orleans Looters got a strong game from starter Gennarino Lucchetti, but it was some clutch hitting that ultimately delivered the win.
The Looters took the 3-1 win over the So Cal Henvy in Game 2 of the Divisional Round in a 9th inning walk-off today. The win capped off a fine outing for the right-handed Lucchetti, who was named player of the game. Lucchetti threw 7 innings of 4-hit ball in the win, which brought the Looters into a 1-1 tie in the best-of-7 series.
Taylor Smith was the walk-off hero for New Orleans. With the game tied in the bottom of the ninth inning, the Looters first baseman hit a dramatic 2-run home run to send the teams home.
"I'm glad I could get it done when the game was in the balance," Smith said in his postgame press conference.
Game 3 is set to be played on Thursday, October 14th, 2027 at Jersey West at Staples Field. The scheduled starters for the game are Chris Martin for New Orleans and Jeffrey King for So Cal.
