Beavers Turn Back Plymouth, 2-1
|
Baffin Island beat Plymouth on the strength of starter Jesse Little's fine effort. The right-hander led his team to a 2-1 win. In 7.1 innings, Little surrendered 8 hits, while striking out 9 and walking 1. He allowed 1 run. Edgardo Guzmán earned his 24th save in 27 chances.
The Beavers beat the Rocks in part due to timely hitting. Case in point: the two-out single Raúl Soto produced in the top of the fourth. Batting against Plymouth pitcher José Martínez, Soto gave his team a 2-0 lead when he hit a 2-run single.
"We'll enjoy this win," said Soto. "But there's more we hope to accomplish."
The Beavers bumped their record to 55-32 with this latest triumph.
