6 Straight Wins for Panthers
|
The Vista Panthers took San Francisco pitcher Pancho Guerrero's best shot and still were able to claim a win at Stone Brewery Stadium. The final score had Vista getting past the Bandits, 3-2. Guerrero went 8 innings and allowed no earned runs, striking out 4. Vista reliever Mitsunari Taguchi got the win, raising his record to 2-1. Kunihiko Daikawa was tagged with the loss. San Francisco has now lost 4 in a row.
The Panthers were down to their last out in the bottom of the ninth when right fielder Phil Matthews turned a first pitch fastball from Kunihiko Daikawa into a bases-clearing double. The walk-off double electrified the Stone Brewery Stadium denizens and sent the Panthers home with a thrilling 3-2 win.
"There's nothing like the buzz of a walk-off win," Matthews said.
