Ortega Sends Niagara Falls Bats to Deep Freeze
|
The Niagara Falls Frenzy were almost helpless today in their 8-0 loss to the St. Louis Browns and hurler Nelson Ortega. Ortega kept the Frenzy confused all game, spinning a 2-hit shutout.
"Tip your hat to Ortega," Niagara Falls manager John Leach said in his postgame interview. "He kept us off balance all night."
The 29-year-old right-hander had no walks and 6 strikeouts in a strong performance.
"It just happened to be one of those games where even when I made mistakes, they either fouled them off or someone would make a fine defensive play," Ortega said. "It was just one of those games that things went my way."
In 18 starts this season Ortega has fashioned a 12-3 record and a 3.67 ERA.
