Niagara Falls Beats Pocatello, 4-1
|
The exploits of left fielder Clyde Yarbrough, who is tied for 2nd in the NL with a 1.004 OPS, helped the Niagara Falls Frenzy defeat the Pocatello Boccabellas, 4-1. Yarbrough went 3 for 4 with a home run and 2 singles. He scored 3 runs. George Nelson earned the win for Niagara Falls. He lasted 6 innings, allowing 1 earned run on 4 hits, while striking out 1. With the win, he raised his record to 4-3. Esteban Juárez earned the save for Niagara Falls, his 19th of the year.
Martín De Jesús provided some punch for the Frenzy. In the bottom of the first, with a runner on 2nd and Niagara Falls trailing 1-0, he lit into a cutter from Kevin Bush, sending it out of the park. The 2-run homer put the Frenzy up, 2-1.
"Whenever we hold the other team to one run," said Frenzy manager John Leach, "I like our chances."
The Frenzy improve their record to 41-43 with the win over Pocatello.
