Browns Get Win, Extend Streak to 4
|
The St. Louis Browns got a good effort from starter Nelson Ortega in defeating the San Francisco Bandits at Gateway Stadium. The final score was 3-2. Ortega went 6 innings to notch the win. He scattered 7 hits, walked 3, and struck out 7. His record improves to 11-3. The third-place Browns now have a 4-game winning streak.
In the bottom of the sixth, Junior Coates had a big run-scoring double off Bob Cunningham. With the double, the St. Louis third baseman put his team in front, 3-2. He was 2 for 4 with 2 doubles in the contest.
"It was just a matter of executing," said St. Louis manager Jeff Porter.
